these are my sculptures …
My sculptures are made of various small driftwood sticks collected from different beaches around the Baltic Sea. With the driftwood sculptures I’m aiming to highlight the beauty of natural patina and aging with as few pieces possible to bring out a Scandinavian minimalistic and artistic pure design.
The Drift Scarecrow and it’s Herons. A group of six sculptures in different sizes from 33 cm height to 38 cm length. Inspired by Wabi-sabi, I have combined the driftwood pieces with various findings and when connected, they have all got new context and been transformed into something to cherish and appreciate. I really enjoy this kind of process. The picture is available as a card and for order (PM me for interest).
Despite the driftwood pieces, there are cut metal pieces from a construction site, Shibori printed textile I made a while ago, face masks as lining in the wings made by fabric and finally some acrylic blue and white colours. The wings are movable sideways giving them a changeable look . The Scarecrow is mounted on an old rusty pitch fork handle I found forgotten deep in the woods.The sculptures are all mounted in casted concrete bases, The Scarecrow in a circular base and the Herons in smaller squared ones.

The colourful Drift Birds all lined up for a photo shot. They are all made of glued driftwood and feathers. Some feathers are hand painted others are just plain. The picture is available as a card and for ordering (PM me for interest).
