It all started when I …

a few years ago turned 50 and I realized that life is too short not to do more of what I really love; ART!

One year later I had my first exhibition and since then I have taken part in various venues every year, been mentioned in art books and Art Talk Magazine as well as received an Award of Excellence for one of my driftwood sculptures.

Creativity has always been essential. I have always loved paper and pens and I still cannot pass a paper shop without going inside.

I love drawing as well as painting. Throughout many years of painting and exploring different materials and techniques, I have found most gratitude in mixing media and move from figurative into abstract paintings.

I must confess that …

I have been collecting driftwood for as long as I can remember. Either it is the sun bleached shade, a hint of a colour or an interesting shape that catches my attention and makes me pick it up. It is just recently that I started to put the sticks together, forming various sculptures. My mother passed away and of 2018, suddenly and unexpected. I was seeking inner peace and found sculpting meditative and healing. My sculpting is mostly inspired by the Japanese aesthetic norm Wabi-Sabi in which the beauty of natural patina and aging is seen as something to cherish and not to disguise.

I believe art is everywhere one just have to learn to appreciate it.

Bonus …

for all of you who made it to the end, I’ll share a few personally things about me; I have a lovely dog, a Springer Spaniel called Leon, I love spicy food, I grow my own chillis and my favourite tea is Lapsang Souchong.
